Description: Mouse Water, about 1.6 km. north-north-west of Lanark, Lanarkshire. Unconformability of Lower Carboniferous strata upon Lower Old Red Sandstone. Ledges of Lower Old Red Sandstone dipping south at 55 degrees are seen crossing the stream obliquely, the unconformable junction being masked by talus. The conglomerate local base of the Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Series is seen above the talus, followed by variegated marls with sandstone ribs in the upper part of the section.
