Description: | Looking westwards up Glen Lyon from near Mor Shuas, Perthshire. A glacial U-shaped valley with truncated spurs and hanging valleys. The hills are Creag Laoghain and Meall Ghaordie. The hills are composed of Dalradian garnet mica-schists while the low ground up to farm (left centre) is composed of flaggy psammitic schists that were once regarded as of Moine age but are now also classed as Dalradian. The spurs of the hills have been removed due to erosion by the valley glaciers. The hanging valleys are typical of those in Glen Lyon, they are formed by the glacial overdeepening of the main valley. |
