Description: | River Lyon near Gallin, Perthshire. Steeply-dipping flaggy psammitic Dalradian schists outcropping in the bed of the River Lyon. These rocks, once thought to be of much older Moine age are a series of metamorphosed marine sediments of late-Precambrian/Lower Palaeozoic age that have undergone considerable deformation, not just on a local scale but on a regional scale. Note the thatched hut left of centre. |
