Description: Blaven from Srath na Creitheach, 9.7 km. south-south-east of Sligachan, looking south-east, Skye, Inverness-shire. The eastern part of the great mass of gabbro that forms part of the Tertiary central igneous complex in central Skye. The Blaven range is composed of the gabbro of the Outer and Inner Layered Eucrite Series. The lower paler portion of the slopes is formed of the Blaven Granite. The latter has steeply-dipping contacts with the Outer Layered Eucrite Series on the east and on the west it cuts the early pyroclastic rocks.
