The stratigraphic sequence from the top down includes: 1. Great Estuarine Series (shales). 2. Ledge at position of oil-shale. 3. Inferior Oolite sandstone. 4. Slope of Aalenian shale. 5. Middle Lias sandstone. In the centre is a large landslipped mass.
