Description: Morrich More, 4.9 km. north-east of Tain, Ross & Cromarty. Dunes temporarily fixed by vegetation. The dune surface covered with sand ripples is indicative of the importance of the wind on the formation of the dunes. The vegetation acts as a trap for the moving sand with wind erosion between the clumps, this leaves the vegetation at a higher level. With increasing vegetation cover, the dune will stabilize until a blow-out causes the dune to migrate as in photograph C01950.
