Description: 6.4 km. south of Roybridge Station, Inverness-shire. Glaciated surface of mica-schist showing well-marked striae and grooving. The mountain in distance (Sgor na h-Innse) is of vertical and folded Eilde Flags (Dalradian Supergroup). A moving glacier carries large amounts of rock debris especially near the base and sides where any loose material is quickly dislodged or plucked out. This material combined with the cohesion and frictional drag of the glacier is carried away and when in contact with rock is a major force of abrasion. The result of such scraping and scratching of the rock is the formation of rounded and smoothed rock surfaces often containing glacial striae as in the photograph.
