Caption: The corrie at head of the Allt a' Mhuilinn and the north-east buttress of Ben Nevis, Inverness-shire.
Description: The rocks forming the central core are 2000 feet of volcanic rocks mainly hornblende-andesites with a fair proportion of agglomerates. At the base of the cliffs, in the Allt a' Mhuilinn the lower contact of the lavas and the underlying Dalradian metasediments can be seen in a 200 yard outcrop. The beds dip steeply inwards towards the centre of the volcanic pile. Part of a series of photographs making an overlapping panorama of the north-west cliffs and buttresses of Ben Nevis from photograph C01794 to C01801. The 'Inner Granite of Ben Nevis' forms the slopes on the left, and andesite lavas and agglomerates of the central core the cliffs on the right. The junction is concealed along the valley bottom. Part of a panorama with C01795. The description is for the full panorama.
