Description: Dunbar's Stack, 3.21 m. south of Wick, Caithness. A typical clett (sea stack) in almost horizontal flagstones separated from main cliff by the undermining action of the sea, and collapse of masses along the main joints. The rocks are of the Girston Formation, Hillhead Red Bed Subgroup (Lower Caithness Flagstone Group, Middle Old Red Sandstone (Devonian). Both the clett and the mainland cliff are topped with boulder clay, showing that the separation of stack from cliff is postglacial.
