Caption: Near Long Geo, west of Noss Head, Caithness.
Description: The rocks are a monotonous sequence of thinly-bedded flaggy calcareous siltstones and laminites with dolostones. In the cliff section the promontories are standing on pillars or 'stoops' i.e. forming natural arches. Note the regular jointing on the wave-cut platform. The bedding is dipping gently to the north-east at about 15 degrees. Recent rock-notch and wave-cut platform. The platform is just covered by tide at high water. The rocks are the Ham-Sarfskerry Subgroup of the Upper Caithness Flagstone Group of the Old Red Sandstone (Devonian).
