| Description: | Tulloch, 10 km. south-south-west of Tomatin, Upper Findhorn Valley, Inverness-shire. Terminal moraine crossing valley and cut through by River Findhorn. Shows the sloping and convex front on the downstream side of the moraine. Dark-coloured mounds on the right of trees are made of poorly-sorted, bouldery morainic material, marking the terminal moraine of the Findhorn Valley glacier in the Late Devensian. In front of moraine is alluvial plain of River Findhorn. Bedrock in hills is micaceous metamorphosed sandstone and siltstone of the Elrick Psammite and Semipelite Formation (Strathdearn Succession, Grampian Group); these rocks are in faulted contact with granodiorite of the Findhorn Pluton, which underlies the river valley. |
