| Description: | Strath Glass, 14.4 km. south-west of Beauly, Inverness-shire. Meanders of the River Glass through a wide waste-filled basin with cut-offs and oxbow lakes. The valley is developed along a line of the Strath Glass Fault. The Strath Glass Fault was formed at the end of the Caledonian Orogeny when ductile deformation gave way to fracturing. It is part of the major suite of north-east - south-west trending faults that include the Great Glen Fault and the Strathconon Fault. The fault, being a line of weakness, has enabled preferential erosion. |
