Description: River Beauly at Kilmorack, 4.0 km. south-west of Beauly, Ross & Cromarty. Gorge in Old Red Sandstone conglomerate. It has been suggested that the steepening of this lower portion of the Beauly River may be due to the uplift that has raised the shoreline 100 feet above its present position. The 100 ft. raised beach runs inland as far as the Kilmorack Gorge. Erosion must have been accelerated on the downstream side of the uplift by the increase in gradient.
