Description: Port Mor at Kilchattan, Colonsay, Argyllshire. Raised beach gravels and wave-cut platform. Photograph shows gravels of the 7.6 m. (25 ft.) and 15.2 m. (50 ft.) raised beaches flanking the road in the centre ground. The High Rock Platform at about 41m. (135 ft.) O.D. forms the left skyline. The High Rock Platform is very well displayed in the Jura-Colonsay area and, from the striations and glacial deposits found in places, was originally thought to be pre-glacial in origin. Current views are less certain and it may be inter-glacial in date.
