Description: | Head of Loch Awe, view from hillside about 1.6 km. south-south-west of Lochawe Station, looking east, Argyllshire. Contrast of scenery influenced by different Dalradian metasedimentary rocks and increasing metamorphic grade to the east. The long upstanding rugged ridges largely consisting of quartzites and metabasics contrast with the smooth slopes over limestones and pronounced valleys and hollows occupied by phyllites and schists. |
