Description: Entrance to Pass of Glen Lyon, 0.8 km. west of Fortingall, 12.8 km. west of Aberfeldy, Perthshire. Valley eroded along a weak-belt, composed of Dalradian metasedimentary rocks. The valley is eroded into the soft pelites and semipelites of the Ben Eagach Schist Formation and the Ben Lawers Schist Formation. The hill in the background, Creag Mhor, is formed of the more resistant Carn Mairg Quartzite Formation, a psammite (metamorphosed sandstone) or pebbly quartzite.
