Description: East side of Whitekirk Village, 5.6 km. south-east of North Berwick, East Lothian. Glacial drainage channel. Classic U-shaped glacial drainage channel now occupied by a stream which is out of scale (too small) with the main feature. During the Devensian, glacier ice dammed the main Forth estuary. When the glaciers began to recede, stagnant ice may have blocked the lower ground so that drainage for the large volumes of water became established around the margins of the ice sheet for melt water to flow away.
