Description: Looking north (seawards) towards Thurso, Caithness. Postglacial gorge of the Thurso river cut in till overlain by glaciofluvial deposits. Conspicuous bluff of glaciofluvial sand and gravel on right overlies till. The other grassy bluffs are made of till. Note wide, alluvium-covered valley within gorge, with postglacial river terraces locally developed. Bedrock is flaggy siltstone of Mey Flagstone Formation (Caithness Flagstone Group, Middle Devonian).
