Description: Tulloch, 10 km. south-south-west of Tomatin, Upper Findhorn Valley, Inverness-shire. Terminal moraine crossing valley and cut through by River Findhorn. Shows the sloping and convex front on the upstream side of the moraine. Dark-coloured mounds in front of trees are made of poorly-sorted, bouldery morainic material, marking the terminal moraine of the Findhorn Valley glacier in the Late Devensian. Note coarse bouldery material exposed on steep slope where cut away by River Findhorn. In front of moraine is alluvial plain of River Findhorn. Note gravelly nature of alluvium. Bedrock in hills is micaceous metamorphosed sandstone and siltstone of the Elrick Psammite and Semipelite Formation (Strathdearn Succession, Grampian Group); these rocks are in faulted contact with granodiorite of the Findhorn Pluton, which underlies the river valley.
