Description: Head of the Pass of Ryvoan, 11 km. east of Aviemore, Inverness-shire. Lateral and terminal moraines. Steep slopes on either side of pass are made of flaggy psammites (metamorphosed sandstones) of the Coylumbridge Formation (Grampian Group). The steep sides and flat floor of the pass indicate a glacial origin. In the left foreground is a terraced spread of gravelly or bouldery material, possibly a lateral moraine. Hummocky deposits in floor of pass may be terminal moraines.
