Description: | Lairig Ghru, 9 km. south-south-east of Aviemore, Inverness-shire. Looking north-north-west. Glaciofluvial terraces and moraines. At northern end of the main pass through the Cairngorms, thick deposits of terraced glaciofluvial sand and gravel are visible on both sides of valley. Beyond the terraces, extensive moundy glacial deposits cover the lower ground. The contact of the Cairngorm Granite pluton roughly follows the base of the mountains. |
