Description: High Crag, E. of Dale Head, Duddon Valley, Cumbria. Looking NE. Conglomerate filling channel in an interbedded succession of volcaniclastic rocks and ignimbrites. The channel, up to 0.4 m. deep is filled with conglomerate that contains platy clasts of laminated silty, volcaniclastic sandstone up to 10 cm. in length. It is cut in laminated, silty, volcaniclastic sandstones (bottom right). In places it is overlain by up to 5 cm. of cross-laminated, fine-grained volcaniclastic sandstone (next to the hammer head) which separate from the overlying ignimbrite which has an eutaxitic (streaky) texture (top left). The channel is viewed obliquely along the axis.
