Description: | Brow Gill, 250 m. E. of junction with Stockdale Beck. Looking E. Upper contact of the Stockdale Rhyolite (lower left). Intensely fractured and probably tuffaceous upper part of the Stockdale Rhyolite Formation is overlain by the basal beds of the Applethwaite Formation. 1.3 m. of strongly cleaved, pebbly coarse-grained sandstone and sandy conglomerate composed of clasts derived from the Stockdale Rhyolite are succeeded by interbedded limestones and mudstones of the Applethwaite Formation. |
