Description: Allen Knott Quarry. Looking W. Load casted turbidite unit (Ta,b,e), Coniston Grit Formation. The near vertical beds young to the left. The massive sandstone base (Ta) of a turbidite unit passes up from right to left into ripple cross-laminated fine-grained sandstone (Tc) overlain by an unusually well-developed mudstone unit (Te). The mudstone unit has been load-casted by the base of the overlying sandstone, (left on photograph) and mudstone has been injected into the sandstone as pointed flame structures. Some erosion of the mudstones has also taken place.
