Description: Bank House, Kentmere. Looking NE. Coniston Grit Formation. A series of turbidite (Bouma) units up to 3 m. thick dipping south-east at up to 85 degrees. The hammer is at the coarse graded sandstone base of a unit which becomes finer-grained upwards (to the right in the photograph). The massive bed on the right of the photograph is composed of a multistorey sequence of graded and parallel-laminated sandstones.
