Caption: River Sprint and Stockdale (Longsleddale).
Description: River Sprint and Stockdale (Longsleddale). General view across Longsleddale towards Stockdale. The prominent crags (left centre) are formed of the Stockdale Rhyolite Formation. The upper contact of the formation partly follows the line of Brow Gill (right centre). The Borrowdale Volcanic Group is exposed in the crags on the top left of the photograph, its junction with the Coniston Limestone Group cannot be clearly seen but is in the brown fern-covered ground (left of the Stockdale Rhyolite). The steep slope to the right of Brow Gill is in Silurian strata. Boulder clay mantles the lower slopes at the valley sides.
