Description: From summit of Meall a' Ghrianain, Ross & Cromarty. Looking north to Beinn a' Chaisteil. Remains of high plateau cut out of Moine psammite (in distance) and Devonian conglomerate (foreground). Small outlier of conglomerate of probable Middle Devonian age in foreground. Ridge beyond is underlain by Moine psammite (metamorphosed sandstone), virtually unexposed except in corrie walls. Ridge has thin covering of frost-shattered rock debris, mostly formed during the Loch Lomond Stadial 10,000-11,000 years ago, when periglacial conditions prevailed.
