Description: Broughton Bank and Broughton. Looking ENE. General view along the northern scarp of the Cleveland Hills showing the lower part of the scarp formed by Lower and Middle Lias strata. The shale scar in the foreground is a result of old alum workings. The flat ground in the middle distance is largely formed by boulder clay and lake deposits. The far horizon in the vicinity of Ingleby Greenhow on the Egton sheet is formed by sandstones of the Middle Jurassic.
