Description: Loch Gynack, 2 km. north of Kingussie, Inverness-shire, looking south-west. Shallow lochan enclosed by morainic drift lying on glacially-lowered col. Lateral moraines along foot of hill on right. To the right of lochan are moundy glacial deposits. Crags on either side of loch are Grampian Group psammite (metamorphosed sandstone). Original line of valley is parallel to Spey and may be fault-controlled. It has been broadened and the col lowered by a glacier which has steepened the slopes to north and south. Ridge in distance is Creag Dhubh.
