Description: | Loch Coire an Lochain, Braeriach, Cairngorms, Inverness-shire. High-level corrie lochan (elevation 990 m.), the water being held up by moraine. Cliffs and screes of granite. North-facing corrie retains snow very late, sometimes all summer. Note intense frost-shattering of rocks on back wall of corrie and abundant granite scree below rock exposures. Small moraine (left foreground) dams loch. All outcrops are of coarse-grained porphyritic granite of Cairngorm Main Granite. |
