Description: Near Brein Phort, south of Loch Tarbert, south-west coast of Jura, Argyllshire. Stacks of quartzite and basalt dykes on postglacial raised beach. The cliff behind is capped with shingle of late-glacial raised beach. Lower partly-grassed platform is postglacial raised beach at c. 14 m. above O.D. The pale Jura Quartzite forms most of the fossil sea stacks rising above this bench, but linear dark ridges are Palaeocene dolerite dykes. Level to gently-sloping surface just right of headland is late-glacial raised beach, c. 34 m. above O.D., which retains patches of shingle (pale).
