Description: Muchalls Caves, Kincardineshire. Natural arch eroded by sea along a line of small fault. Natural arch eroded by sea, exploiting subvertical fault plane in flaggy, micaceous psammite (metamorphosed sandstone) with gritty beds, belonging to the Glen Lethnot Formation (Southern Highland Group, Dalradian Supergroup). Near here the Dalradian rocks are intruded by a subhorizontal sheet of felsite, which has been displaced by faulting. Minor folds with subhorizontal axes are well-developed in the Dalradian rocks.
