Description: The Gegan, 5 km. east of North Berwick, East Lothian. Characteristic weathering of bedded tuffs. Bedded basaltic tuffs of the Garleton Hills Volcanic Formation (Strathclyde Group, Visean). Note steepness of cliff, and relatively poor jointing. Tuffs are rather thinly bedded, despite presence of large basaltic clasts, and cross-bedding appears to be absent. In foreground is marine erosion platform, with tuffs dipping at c.10 degrees to the left.
