Bedded basaltic tuffs of the Garleton Hills Volcanic Formation (Strathclyde Group, Visean). Note steepness of cliff, and relatively poor jointing. In foreground is marine erosion platform, with tuffs dipping at 5-10 degrees to the right, overlain by abundant scattered boulders of tuff. Note small sailing ship in far left distance. |
