| Description: | Largo Law, 2.5 km. north of Upper Largo, Fifeshire. Dissected volcanic vent. Largo Law and the hill to the east are two large volcanic vents filled with agglomerate of basaltic composition. The vents are both 1.5-2 km. across and oval in shape. Despite being more resistant than the surrounding sedimentary rocks or even the volcanic rocks around Upper Largo, the rocks of the vents are very poorly exposed and form smooth hills. The vents cut through sandstone and basaltic tuff of the Passage Formation (Clackmannan Group, Namurian), and are of late Carboniferous or early Permian age. |
