Description: Shore at Traigh Bhan, 2 km. west-south-west of Sanaigmore Bay, Islay, Argyllshire. Folding and cleavage of Colonsay Group slates and harder bands. The Colonsay Group is now assigned to the Dalradian Supergroup. The rocks at Traigh Bhan belong to the Sanaig Greywacke Formation. In the picture, thick-bedded psammite (metamorphosed) sandstone rests on slates. The cross-cutting cleavage has been folded round the broad open fold, and must relate to a previous fold episode.
