Description: Ben More Assynt, with Dubh Loch Mor in corrie, Sutherland. Lewisian gneiss forming part of Ben More Nappe; moraine-dammed loch. Ben More Assynt consists largely of Lewisian gneiss, thrust eastwards on the Ben More thrust plane. Basic dykes within the Lewisian are common, and may have been eroded preferentially to form gullies. Screes have developed in places, but the walls of the corrie are largely bare rock. Hummocky moraine damming the loch forms almost the only vegetated part of the scene.
