Description: Carlton Bank near Carlton, Northallerton. Looking SE. North-facing scarp of the Cleveland Hills showing exposures and slips in the Lower and Middle Lias. Discontinuous ironstone bands and nodules show near horizontal-bedding in the Lower Lias (bottom left). Prominent massive bed near top right is a calcareous fossiliferous sandstone of the Staithes Formation (Middle Lias).
