Description: Wyresdale Tunnel (Lune-Wyre Link) SE of Lancaster, 1945 m. from the Rowton Portal. Top of neptunean sandstone dyke. This photograph illustrates the top of the 10 mm. neptunean sandstone dyke in weakly laminated silty mudstones shown in photograph number L1715. A small non-sequence is present at the bedding plane which cuts across the top of the dyke (centre of photograph, indicated by the chisel point of the hammer). There is no sand present on the bedding plane, suggesting that some erosion has taken place before the overlying silty mudstones were deposited.
