Description: Wyresdale Tunnel (Lune-Wyre Link) SE of Lancaster, 950 m. from the Rowton Portal. Slickensided minor shear planes in silty mudstones. Small slickensided show planes are commonly present within silty mudstones, and some have thin calcite coverings. The irregular planes of movement are probably penecontemporaneous, reflecting compaction of the mudstones by the overlying sediments. Scale = 0.5 m. Details of the strata on the right of the photograph are obscured by dust on the tunnel wall.
