Description: Wyresdale Tunnel (Lune-Wyre Link) SE of Lancaster, 890 m. from the Rowton Portal. Intraformational faults in interbedded striped siltstones and sandstones. The bed of sandstone on which the hammer rests contains abundant silty mudstone lithoclasts, indicative of a turbiditic origin. In the overlying interbedded striped siltstones and thin sandstones two small intraformational faults are present. The lower (left centre of photograph) has a displacement of 0.03 m. and the upper (upper right centre of photograph) a displacement of 0.15 m. in a similar direction. Details of the strata in the remainder of the photograph are obscured by dust in the tunnel wall. The beds dip c. 25-30 degrees north-west. The hammer shaft = 0.3 m.
