Description: Wyresdale Tunnel (Lune-Wyre Link) SE of Lancaster, 370 m. from the Rowton Portal. Interbedded sandstones and striped siltstones. The lower 0.8 m. bed of medium-grained well-sorted sandstone is weakly laminated, the lamination becoming better defined upwards. Locally the sandstone is cross-bedded. The base of the sandstone rests with marked discordance on striped siltstones. A 0.2 m. bed of dark-grey silty mudstone separates the lower sandstone from the overlying striped siltstones and a lenticular bed of sandstone (upper left). The dip of the beds is to the north-west. Scale = 0.5 m.
