Caption: Near Toberonochy, Isle of Luing, Strathclyde Region. A surface geophysical survey was undertaken across raised beach deposits on Luing as part of an assessment of the groundwater potential of the shallow aquifer.
Description: The photo shows the use of EM-31 electrical conductance equipment which measures the conductivity of the ground below the instrument to a depth of approximately 3 m. A grid pattern is set out prior to walking across the ground and taking readings every 5 m. In the background, old sea cliffs of Dalradian graphitic schist and slate can be seen. The raised beach deposits range between 1 m. and 12 m. in thickness at the site.
