Description: Disused gravel-pit, SE of Nether Sturston, Ashbourne. Looking W. Section in sandstones and conglomerates, Sherwood Sandstone Group. Section shows variably pebbly sandstones overlying poorly-bedded and poorly-stratified conglomerates and pebbly sandstones. Trough cross-bedding in the upper sandstone unit indicates deposition from the south-south-west. See also notes of adjacent section (photograph No. L1642).
