| Description: | Ravens Tor, Dove Dale. Looking W. Ravens Tor, a knoll-reef or bank within the Milldale Limestones of Chadian or Arundian age (C2S1 Zone) - Carboniferous Limestone. The main bulk of the reef consists of grey massive micritic limestone. Bedding seen at the north of the crag (to the right) marks a gradual transition to coarser well-bedded bioclastic limestones with cherts, and smaller exposures of darker bedded limestone occur beneath the reef. |
