Description: Cononish Gold Mine, 6 km. south-west of Tyndrum, Stirling District. General view of main adit (400 m. level) approximately 300 m. from portal. The main adit (400 m. level) principally follows an auriferous vein of white quartz, Eas Anie Vein, (dominating the photograph). The gold occurs as very small grains, mainly as intergrowths with galena contained within microfractures within pyrite grains. The banded psammite country-rock (Precambrian) occurs at extreme left. The Cononish gold-silver mineralization occurs within a north-east - south-west trending quartz-sulphide vein structure hosted by Lower to Middle Dalradian psammites and pelites.
