Description: Buxton Quarry (Tarmac Ltd.), Hindlow, near Buxton. Looking SW. Quarry face in Carboniferous Limestone broken by faulting and by a 'pocket deposit' of Pliocene clay and dark Carboniferous shale which has partially collapsed down the face. Note the general thinness of the overburden, which consists of silty loam with a few cherty limestone fragments. (See also No. L1249.)
