Description: Hillhead Quarry near Buxton. Looking N. Typical thick-bedded D1 zone shelf limestones (Bee Low Limestones) with interbedded clay beds (wayboards) representing volcanic ash horizons. This quarry, belonging to Tarmac Ltd., was closed in 1973 because of the amount of clay in the wayboards and in the open joints.
