Description: Oblique aerial view of Cowieslinn Quarry, Eddleston Valley, north of Peebles, Border Region. Looking south-east. Contrast the ice contact deposits on the western side of the valley with the steeper till and bedrock slope to east. The sand and gravel quarry is being excavated in a deep pre-glacial channel 200 to 300 metres wide and up to 25 metres deep. Eight metres of bedded coarse boulder gravel lying between thick bands of fine bedded and ripple-bedded sand with silty clay beds are being excavated.
