Description: | The gap behind the trees represents the material removed in the operations. Often, because of the high and conspicuous nature of the ground there are environmental objections to exploitation. A distant view of the quarry operations in the Carboniferous quartz-dolerite Stirling Sill at Murrayshall. It is worked for hard rock aggregate. Parts of the processing plant for crushing and screening can be seen in front of the quarry faces. |
